Layton's first sewer lines

                                               Today's North Davis Sewer complex.

THE first time sewer lines spanned Layton City was at the end of 1944.
Besieged by rapid growth from the development of Hill Field and other military bases nearby, a city-wide sewer system was quickly put in place.
A $153,000 project began in the spring of 1944 and was completed by the end of 1944. A $57,000 federal grant helped fund the project.
Of course, in 1944, Layton City was about a third or less of the land it is today. Layton had yet to annex Laytona and East Layton, plus some westward Davis County land.
