1910: When Layton was illuminated by its first street lights

THE first street lights in Layton were illuminated in the fall of 1910, lighting up a portion of South Main Street.
"Six big street lights" was the Oct. 28, 1910 headline in the Davis County Clipper.
The lights cost $175 to install and their maintenance was expected to be about $20 per month.
"These are the largest candle power street lights in the county," the Clipper reported.

Today's modern street lights on South Main Street.
