1896: When the world's longest electric transmission line ran through Layton

THE Pioneer Power Company built a 36.5 mile electric power transmission line from Ogden Canyon to Salt Lake City in 1896. It also ran right through Layton.
According to research by Layton Historian Harris Adams, it was believed to be the world's longest power transmission line at the time.
